SOS Health Clinic Website Launch

This past Thanksgiving the SOS Clinic had a lot to be thankful for, one thing being our newly completed clinic website. Our website will help us raise much needed awareness of what the clinic does for our community, as well connect us to volunteers and donors.

Most people don't realize how long we've been bringing quality care to the medically under-served in our community. SOS Health Services of Walla Walla, a 501(c)(3), (SOS Clinic) was founded in 2000 by a local doctor, who recognized a need for health care for the uninsured in the Blue Mountain area. Since the beginning, the SOS Clinic has provided compassionate urgent-care services for people from Dayton Washington to Pendleton. The clinic was originally located in downtown Walla Walla, and then moved to SonBridge Community Center, a repurposed nursing home, in 2005. During the first half of 2012, the clinic will move yet again to a custom clinic facility. Guided by a diverse board of community leaders, the SOS Clinic is prepared for this exciting move and the challenge of growing the organization.

Due the difficult economic times, the SOS Clinic has seen an unprecedented demand for services. The clinic treats approximately 100 patients every month, thanks to dedicated donors, as well as volunteers who serve over 150 hours monthly.

In addition to benefiting those without insurance, the SOS Clinic is a crucial part of the community healthcare safety net. By providing a place for the uninsured to go, valuable emergency room and hospital resources are conserved. With increasing awareness and support of the SOS Clinic, it is becoming an integral element of our community’s health.
